Mahalo 2013 College Summer Interns!  Aloha!


James “Kimo” Akinaka is the son of Bob and Velma Akinaka.  Kimo just completed his first year at Haverford College in Pennsylvania, majoring in English with a Creative Writing Concentration.  Besides writing, Kimo has a passion for music through playing the violin.  He also has a burgeoning interest in education.  Kimo hopes to explore his passions and share them with others as part of the internship this summer.  He is a member of Nu‘uanu Congregational Church.

Alexandria “Alex” Montiel is a senior at CSU Stanislaus majoring in English with a minor in Communications.  Alex is a member of Bear Creek Community Church of the Nazarene in Merced.  In her spare time, she enjoys writing, spending time with her family, and participating in various capacities at her church.  Alex brings her experience and deep faith, as well as her Aunt Susan and cousin Preston, to the internship.  Alex’s parents are Edward and Corinna Montiel.

Rebecca Weible is a member of Kailua Christian Church.  Majoring in Marine Biology at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, Rebecca is a graduate of the best school in the world, James B. Castle High School!  At Kailua Christian, Rebecca is part of the Praise Band and Dance Team.  In her spare time, she enjoys playing music and scuba diving.  Rebecca can’t wait to be an intern.  Her parents are the Revs. Tim and Diane Weible.

Kristen Young is a member of United Church of Christ Judd Street.  A graduate of Roosevelt High School, she just completed her first year at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.  Aside from her studies, Kristen loves music, plays the guitar and sings, and is very interested in photography.  She is both excited and nervous about the internship, but is looking forward to it.  Kristen’s parents are Richard and Dawn Young.
