On Sunday mornings, the keiki begin with worship in the Sanctuary; and after the Keiki Message, they are invited to attend Sunday School. On the First Sunday of each month, the keiki begin with Sunday School, and then they join the rest of the congregation for Communion. Nursery care is available for children 4 and under.
Sunday School at Nu‘uanu Congregational Church focuses on engaging the keiki in helping them to describe their experiences of God. We use two main curricula. Feasting on the Word is an ecumenical, lectionary based curriculum that provides comprehensive biblical and theological background, inviting leaders and learners deeper into the rhythm of the church year.
Godly Play is a curriculum that uses storytelling to teach children to use faith language—parables, sacred stories, and liturgical action—to help them become more fully aware of the mystery of God's presence in their lives.
The Coordinator of Sunday School is Velma Akinaka. The Godly Play Coordinator is Peggy Graybill.
